My current setup, originally uploaded by insyte.

Well, my main desktop named Althy died. I was forced to make use
of a backup desktop which only has 256MB of RAM (installed xubuntu on
it).

My laptop which I use most of the time nowadays dual boots winxp and
ubuntu, though I usually log on the latter.

And I was really happy when ubuntu recognized my total bithead amp.
It’s the one attached to my ipod. I use it as an external DAC, and of
course to drive my HD595. This is the best pair of senns that I have
right now and simply replaces my PX100 as my default headphone.
Downside is, it’s not so portable, but I’ve managed to use it during
my duties.

Long time no blog :)

I’m currently on leave from the hospital right now.

Several things happened that I didn’t blog about….. went to the
beach/resort outing twice… crazy pictorial with Eds (pics posted on
her friendster site)…. attended several weddings… etc

Since yesterday, Ive been fixing up the laptops in the house. Fixed
my mom’s trojaned astone umpc. Installed Office 2007 on my sister’s
laptop. Updated my ubuntu install. Got some of my favorite programs
working via wine including foobar (as seen in the pic).

Yes I was bored and tried an abx testing exam on myself and got 8 out
of 10, using a flac and mp3 encoded at 320 kbps. With good equipment,
one can actually distinguish the ( very slight )difference.

Morning Musume - Resonant Blue (2008.04.16)

A refreshing new single from Morning Musume. A very good follow up to
Mikan. I personally like this single a lot. Already saw the PVs
several times (I’ve only seen the Another Ver and Lesson Studio Ver
because I only like watching H!P PVs as vobs, still waiting for that
Single V to come out).

This single is really catchy and is now my favorite of the week (Vs
YUI’s and Kitchie Nadal’s new album)

1.リゾナント ブルー
2.その場面でビビっちゃいけないじゃん!
3.リゾナント ブルー(Instrumental)

Finished reading the manga today.

Sad ending. I was rooting for Raito to win :(

Read the one-shot specials. It was boring with only Near and no real
opponent :(

Recently watched this movie, based on the manga of the same title. It
was a pleasant surprise to find Yu Aoi played the role of Tanyuu.
Although the movie was kinda slow and the ending just so-so, it’s
still a must see for mushishi fans :)

Good food… a pleasant ambience… made the day perfect for some photos

Since it was a holiday today, my girlfriend and her co-resident’s
decided to have lunch at Antonio’s. We had a table reserved at 1:30
pm and barely made it. Good thing I brought the camera :) And not
just the cam, but the tripod and the remote. Finally got myself into
some of the pictures. The remote had a good range probably around
15-20 meters.

Though it was expensive…. it was a really good meal. And of course
getting a chance to take pics made it more worthwhile :) l

Windows of discontent

Windows of discontent, originally uploaded by insyte.

Recently I’ve been missing my linux box. I sold my redfox notebook
which had Kubuntu running on it for the longest time.

I guess I got irked when I got a few viruses from a usb stick. I even
had to edit some registry settings to get rid of it. And right now
there’s a visual basic script that I can’t get rid off, but it is not
doing anything harmful. But still, it’s pretty annoying.

I have winxp on my current laptop and on my home pc. For the house,
since I’m not the only one using it, winxp will stay. For my laptop
which only has 512MB of RAM, I guess I have to dual boot. I wanted to
have kubuntu or ubuntu installed with win xp running on a virtual
server, but 512 of ram isn’t a lot.

My reasons for having win xp is convenience. Everybody uses it for
office and powerpoint. Openoffice is still not 100% compatible
especially for powerpoint presentations. Gimp is not photoshop, nuff
said. I use irfanview a lot, it will run under wine though. Foobar
can be replaced with AmaroK. Most of the other apps are crossplatform
so its not a problem. For videos, there’s mplayer and kaffeine (xine)
and vlc, but none can render .ass and .ssa animations properly.
Will post again once I’m actually dual boot :)

I started uploading some pics to friendster and multiply. And I found
it easier to upload in friendster. I got irritated with multiply as
not all the pics I select are uploaded. The pics were already scaled
down to around 100kb each for fast upload so for now I’ll stick with
friendster for uploading my pics.

Although Final Fantasy VII : Crisis Core is already out, I opted not
to play it. Well, because I found it toooo sloooowwwww, coming from
God of War. So I decided to start playing MHF2, yes its also not as
fast as GOW but I know at least 2 people who are playing it so it
gives me the option for co-op play.

Ive only finished most of the tutorials. And I found that I’m
interested in using the gunlance.
